Health & Safety FAQ
Is pest control safe for babies and young children? ⌄
Yes, when conducted by NEA-licensed professionals using approved products at correct application rates. We always brief households to vacate the treated area for 2-4 hours after treatment and to ventilate before re-entry. Baby items, utensils, and food should be covered or removed before treatment begins. Our technicians use targeted, low-dose formulations that minimise airborne residue.
How long should we vacate the premises after pest control treatment? ⌄
This depends on the treatment type. For general residual spraying, 2-4 hours is recommended. For heat treatments (InnoHeat), the room can typically be re-entered the same day once cooled. For gel bait and bait station services, no vacating is required. Your technician will advise the specific re-entry time before beginning treatment.
Are the chemicals you use safe for pets? ⌄
Pets should be removed from the treatment area and kept away until treated surfaces are fully dry, typically 2-4 hours. We use WHO-classified and NEA-registered products applied at label-specified concentrations. Once dry, residue levels are considered safe for most household pets. We recommend covering fish tanks and removing pet food, water bowls, and bedding before treatment.
Do your pest control methods comply with HACCP for F&B businesses? ⌄
Yes. All products and methods used in F&B and food-handling environments are SFA-approved and compatible with HACCP food safety systems. We provide service reports suitable for HACCP documentation and audits. Our technicians are trained to work in food preparation environments without causing contamination risk, using gel baits and non-spray methods wherever possible.
What PPE do your technicians wear during treatment? ⌄
Our technicians wear appropriate PPE based on treatment type and risk level. This includes nitrile gloves, safety boots, and work coveralls for all treatments. For chemical spray applications, respirators and eye protection are added. For confined space jobs, full confined space PPE and gas detection equipment are used. All protocols follow MOM Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act guidelines.
Is Innovative Pest Management NEA-licensed? ⌄
Yes. Innovative Pest Pte. Ltd. is a registered Vector Control Operator licensed by the National Environment Agency (NEA) under the Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act 1998. Our registration number is NEA201715498H, valid until 18 June 2026. This licence covers all pest control operations including residential, commercial, and industrial treatments across Singapore.
How do I know which chemicals were used in my treatment? ⌄
After every treatment, our technicians provide a service report that includes the product names, active ingredients, application areas, dosages, and technician details. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all products we use are publicly available on this page. If you require further information on a specific product, our team is available to advise.
Are your pest control products environmentally safe? ⌄
We prioritise environmental safety through our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, which minimises chemical use and targets only problem areas. All products are WHO-classified and applied at the minimum effective dose. Where possible, we use eco-friendly alternatives such as bait stations, gel baits, and biological controls. Our operations align with SS 721:2025 and our internal Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policy.
What is bizSAFE Star and why does it matter for pest control? ⌄
bizSAFE Star is the highest workplace safety and health accreditation awarded by Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council. It requires a company to demonstrate a fully developed and independently audited Safety Management System (SMS). For pest control, it signals that every operational process, from chemical handling and confined-space entry to technician training, has been evaluated against national WSH standards. Innovative Pest Management holds bizSAFE Star, meaning you can request our safety documentation for contractor pre-qualification.
What is SS 721:2025 and how does it apply to pest control? ⌄
SS 721:2025 is Singapore's national standard for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), effective from 2025. Published by Enterprise Singapore, it sets out requirements for structured inspection cycles, pest identification, chemical minimisation, documented reporting, and continuous improvement programmes. Pest control operators who align with SS 721:2025 follow a more systematic, less chemical-dependent approach than those using conventional spray-and-go methods. Innovative Pest Management has aligned all service contracts and documentation procedures with this standard.
How do I verify that a pest control company is NEA-licensed in Singapore? ⌄
You can check the NEA's online public register of licensed Vector Control Operators at the NEA website. Every licensed operator has a unique registration number, Innovative Pest Management's is NEA201715498H. You can also ask the operator to show their licence certificate on site before work begins. Be cautious of unlicensed operators: hiring them is an offence under the Control of Vectors and Pesticides Act 1998, and their chemical products may not be NEA-registered or applied at safe concentrations.
