American Cockroaches
The biggest adult cockroach to be identify worldwide. In fact, its name is misleading as it probably came originally from north America. It has established in Singapore and elsewhere, being highly adaptable. The adult are fast and some of these species of cockroaches can fly using its wings to glide.
They live outdoor in warm climates and prefers damp conditions usually call or known as the โwater bugโ or โpalmetto bugโ. They thrives inside warm warehouses, kitchen and similar to the Australian cockroach and wood cockroach. These cockroaches carries bacteria such as salmonella and triggers allergies like asthma.

Diet :
They eat anything with a particular interest in fermented food. Their food source includes insects even bed bugs and plants.
Habitat :
Generally, these creatures prefers living in warmer dark area with damp or wet surfaces, like sewage and kitchen sinks. The baby American cockroach usually enters the property through the drainage pipes, cracks and crevices. Commonly found in commercial properties such as restaurants, warehouses, supermarkets, schools and hospitals.

This species is of African origin and was introduce from Cuba to Florida in 1903. It now occurs throughout Singapore. Their name comes from the light brown stripes that cross the wings of the mature insect.ย
They can live for about approximately 440 days. And the cockroach life cycle consist of eggs, nymph and adult.

Diet :
The brown-banded cockroach feed on dyes and pastes, including stacks of envelopes and wallpaper. Their diet consists of trash, food items, curtains and boxes and even items that contains high starch like glue and wall moulding.ย
Habitat :
You can find them in higher locations throughout structures, making shelter in upper cabinets in kitchens or bathrooms. A preference for warmer areas, as well as congregating near ceilings. They live amongst appliances, like refrigerator motors, and avoid water or bright light. Because to their small size and brown colour, they can blend into their surroundings and can be difficult to spot.ย
