Booklice Questions

Booklice, also known as psocids, are tiny insects that are commonly found in room walls ,toilets and other areas with high humidity. They are often mistaken for lice, but they do not bite or feed on blood but on fungi build up..

Booklice are not harmful to humans and do not transmit diseases. However, they can be a nuisance if they infest your home.

Signs of a booklice infestation include the presence of tiny insects on walls mainly with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens. You can find more here.

Booklice infestations are often caused by high humidity levels in your home. High humidity in homes lead to fungi/mould build which leads to booklice infestation.

To get rid of booklice, you should reduce the humidity levels in your home. You can use dehumidifiers or air conditioners to help reduce humidity. Vacuuming and cleaning affected areas can also help eliminate booklice.

You can prevent booklice infestations by airing the rooms effected on a sunny day and painting with anti fungi paint to prevent fungi build up.
